WIP’s - Kitty Cuteness, Thangles and More

Wow!! Here it is and another week has flown past. But at least this time I have something that is quilty to show ya.  Yesterday I made myself stay off the laptop and work with the sewing machine. So I pulled out a project that I needed to get done for a friend of mine.  It’s been the bag waiting for me to get off my butt and put it together.  It’s amazing on what I can get done when I force my self.  This top is 48” x 60” and super kitty cuteness all over it!!

  

As you see Honey had to give her kitty approval  and really is getting into the theme of the top.  LOL!

  

Then I spent some time getting my Thangle blocks together.  Theses are from my Wisconsin friend as a part of a Buck-A-Block  program that she is sending me through the mail.  I love the colors that she picked out for me as they are a prefect match to everything in my house. I can’t wait to see how these come together once it’s all done. I managed to get blocks 2 & 3 done and the 4th one segments stitched waiting for me to square them for the 2” HST’s for the layout.

     

Me and the Boy Child spent time tossing the softball out in the yard the other day.  Man if he every gets his tosses into a straight line constantly, he could better a good pitcher.  He does have a bit of a heat behind it when he throws and his catching skills are improving in leaps and bounds. We took some time out this evening to do it again just before supper.  Then I made us some salads.  The BC had a salmon & blueberry salad dressed with sweetened lemon juice while I had had a chef salad with ranch.  It was pretty filling and balanced …i.e.: healthy.  I try to set a good example while he is here since I know that it’s not quite the same as when he is with his father. And as a reward he got to have 2 rectangles on Hershey's Dark Chocolate as a treat.  I had something a bit different. I had Lindt & Sprungli’s Chili Dark Chocolate bar. The dark chocolate is infused with a hint of spicy red chili.  It actually surprised me as I found it to be rather tasty.

I’m continuing my journey with the Q&N Challenge top from last year as you might know from the last couple of weeks. Although the progress appears to be creeping along inch by inch, I have gotten to a third of the way point of the appliqué border just working on it in small bursts during TV Time, Wednesday Mornings and during scout events like last weekend. 

This week in the reading nook, I have for you a cute little read.  It’s called “Diamonds & Toads” by K.E. Saxon and was published on Sept. 23,2011. First off, I would like to thank Net Gallery and the publisher, Passion Flower Publishing, for this interesting read. I was offered this e-book for free in exchange for an honest review. So this is my opinion and mine alone and should be taken with a grain of salt with out any influences from anyone associated with the book.

This was a quick read for me with it’s 168 pages.  Now this is a bit more of a grownup version of a fairy tale with it’s explicit sex scenes with a toss of BDSM for Lilah and for Dora it’s tongue in cheek sexual but verbal slipups. The book consist of two novellas' with at look of what happens when the “family fairy” gets in the middle of things.  Any how, the book  gave me a couple “tee-hees” but it felt a bit loose or unfinished to me.  I felt it was missing many necessary details in the plots, made the girls sound a tad like ditz’s and the men come across as cads. For me I found the stories lacking on so many levels.  So I guess the best I can do is to give this book 2.5 out of 5 after being generous with my stars.
